presented our Menphys CEO Ian Caldwell with a cheque for £11,080.63.

Earlier in the year, the Menphys ambassador took on a solo cycling challenge in aid of the charity, the #ThamestoTyne fundraiser saw Darren ride over 300 miles between London and Newcastle.

This fantastic donation will enable the charity to extend its partnership with Leicester Riders Foundation and provide a second provision, allowing another 15 young people to enjoy weekly basketball sessions specifically designed for their needs.

Liam Deacy, Menphys Head of Fundraising, said: “What Darren did for the children and young people Menphys support is nothing short of spectacular, to cycle all that way and literally put his body on the line for them is testament to a great man and outstanding charity ambassador”.

Menphys and the Leicester Riders Foundation currently runs an after school session for young people with disabilities and additional needs at the Menphys hub. With the money raised by Darren, a second club will be opened at the Morningside arena in November. All part of the charities commitment to extending after school provision available to it’s families across the city, county and Rutland.

Thank you to everyone who supported Darren, with special thanks to Dav Mahet and TML Solicitors who sponsored the challenge.
