We are thrilled to announce that FA Women’s Super League defender Sophie Howard will be our next Menphys Sports Club guest.

Sophie first joined Hoffenheim in 2009 when they were in the third tier and remained at the club for nine years, spending the final three in the Bundesliga (Germany’s top tier). In 2018, she moved to England to play in the WSL (Women’s Super League), signing for Reading FC. During her two years at Reading, the club reached the FA Cup semi-finals in 2019. In 2020, she joined Leicester City Women, where she helped the team win the Women’s Championship in her first season, securing promotion to the WSL. Leicester are currently competing in the 2024/25 season, following their remarkable “great escape” from relegation in the 2022/23 season. In the summer of 2024, she signed a one-year contract extension, keeping her at Leicester City until 2025.

Internationally, Sophie represented Germany at the U20 Women’s World Cup in 2012, finishing as runners-up, before committing to Scotland at senior level. She made her debut for Scotland in April 2017 and has since earned 56 caps, representing the nation at UEFA Women’s Euro 2017 and the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.
